The Museum is situated in the Sposo-Andronikov monastery, where the famous Russian icon painter Andrey Rublev lived, worked and was buried. The collection includes more than 10 000 exhibits of the ancient Russian art — mainly paintings, icons, books, frescoes. Wooden sculpture, enamel, applied and decorative arts are presented here as well.

* Daily, except Monday, 08.03.12, 01.05.12, 09.05.12, 12.06.12, 04.11.12 Moscow Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts is the second-largest, after the St.-Petersburg Hermitage, collection of foreign arts in Russia. The people enlighteners, Moscow professors, wanted everyone in the city to be able to see the great creations of the previous centuries' masters, at least in replicas and casts. High quality copies were specially made in Europe for big sums of money, and then transported to Moscow. Simultaneously the vast building of the future Museum was being erected — a palace with a colonnade whose magnificent halls were capable to house bulky exhibits — frieze fragments, gates, horse statues, the originals of which decorated the cities and museums of Europe. From a storage place for replicas and copies the Palace in Volkhonka Street quickly developed into a museum of originals. The Egyptologist V.S. Golenischev’s collection which gathered monuments of Ancient Egypt, antique vases and coins and Western Europe masters’ paintings made part and parcel of the museum.

It was built in 1479 by Italian architect Aristotle Fiorovante. Traditionaly wedding and coronation ceremonies were held there, also there were buried Russian metropolitans and patriarchies. The Annunciation Cathedral was built in 1484–1489 by masters from Pskov as a private church of the royal family, where the sacraments of marriage and baptism were performed. An ancient iconostasis is of great value. It was made by the outstanding Russian painters Andrey Rublev and Theophanes The Greek. Church of the Deposition of the Virgin’s Robe was built by craftsmen from Pskov in 1484–1486. It was the home church of metropolitans and patriarchies. The small and comfortable church has preserved iconostasis of the 17th century.

It was conceived as a memorial to Russian victory over Napoleon armies. In 1924 by Stalin's order the cathedral was demolished. The Christ the Savior Cathedral was reconstructed in 1994 by the Moscow Government's decision. It was restored with attention to every detail. An observation platform was installed at the bell tower level.The main sacred objects in the Cathedral are the icon of the Nativity of Jesus Christ brought from Bethlehem, six authentic restored canvases of Russian painter V.P. Vereschagin and the authentic throne of His Holiness the Patriarch Tikhon in the main Sanctuary.

State Central Museum of the Contemporary History of Russia by MINIBUS — 12 seats with guide (English, German, Japanese or French speaking)

Historical sources and documentary records, which reflect social, political and economic history of our country, intellectual development of the society for the whole 150 years' period of its progress are collected, studied and exhibited in the Museum. At present the Museum has about 2 million historical and cultural records.

The scenic area which overlooks the steep banks of the Moskva River, fairy tale architecture of the palace, churches and other buildings, great atmosphere help to really feel the history.

Russian history from the earliest period till the beginning of the XX century is presented in the Museum's 39 halls. For the visitors convenience there are information stands in the halls that can assist in understanding each exhibit better. There are also monitors and screens which show the objects that are not presented on the Exhibition and provide a lot of other interesting information. The collection consists of 22 thousand objects that are displayed on 4000 square meters.

It is located in the base of the Memorial Victory Complex on Poklonnaya Hill and covers more than 48.000 square meters. The Museum consists of the Entry Hall, the Halls of Glory and Memory, Art Gallery and six dioramas devoted to the most dramatic battles of the Great Patriotic War, two movie theatres, a hall for veterans' meetings and an exhibition hall. The military display acts as a chronicle of the war through official documents, letters (official and personal), newspaper articles, photographs and paintings. In the Hall of Memory there are show-cases containing books with the names of those who died.
