Intourist to become the General Tour Operator of “Wide Shrovetide 2010”
Intourist, the largest vertically integrated tourist holding of Russia, has sponsored “Wide Shrovetide 2010” as a General Tour Operator. The Shrovetide (Maslenitsa) activities were held on February 8-14 all over the country with the main party stage on the Red square in Moscow. It was the second time that Intourist supported this widely celebrated folk holiday symbolizing the end of winter.
One of the main strategic goals of Intourist is incoming tourism development as well as increase of the interest in Russian national customs and traditions among foreign tourists and Russian citizens.
Intourist supports mass activities and projects of the Moscow Tourist Committee in various ways. This year Intourist was attracting foreign guests to the Wide Shrovetide celebration. Moreover Intourist became one of organizers’ partner of this joyful event.
“I’m sure that Wide Shrovetide celebration gives us one more opportunity to remind our compatriots about our cultural traditions and to increase the interest in our country among foreign tourists as well. It’s not surprising that national celebrations in the Russian capital have got the international scale,” commented Alexander Arutyunov, President of VAO Intourist.
